At DVT Therapeutics, you’ll be part of a team that values both its clinicians and the communities it serves. You’ll provide services onsite at our Laurinburg, NC clinic or in nearby schools, serving students and patients with diverse needs and values.

Open communication, clear expectations, and accessible leadership are central to how we operate, so you’ll never feel alone or unsupported. Our staff actively invites feedback around caseloads, documentation, and workflow. We also partner with you to create a schedule that fits your life and clinical interests.

If you’re passionate about innovation, continuing education, and culturally responsive care, you’ll find a strong professional home here at DVT!

    • Master's or Doctoral Degree: Must have a graduate degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an ASHA-accredited program.

    • Active Licensure: A current, valid license to practice in the state where the clinic is located (e.g., North Carolina) is mandatory.

    • ASHA Certification: Possession of the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) is not required to work as an SLP for DVT; however, it is required for SLPs who wish to supervise SLP-Assistants or CF-SLPs.

    • Clinical Fellowship: DVT often accepts applicants in their Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) and provides the required 1,260 hours of supervised experience.

  • Given DVT's focus on complex medical conditions, the following are emphasized:

    • Dysphagia & Voice Expertise: Demonstrated competence in evaluating and treating swallowing and voice disorders. Extra compensation for clinicians already FEES/MBSS trained/competent.

    • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Ability to work alongside Occupational Therapists (OTs) and Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs), as the practice is expanding into interdisciplinary care.

    • Pediatric Experience: While DVT treats various ages, previous experience with the pediatric population is highly preferred for a mixed caseload.

    • Life Support Certification: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification for healthcare providers.

  • Assessments: Conduct specialized evaluations for dysphagia (swallowing disorders), including bedside exams and coordinating instrumental exams such as Modified Barium Swallow Studies (MBSS) or Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES).

Voice Therapy: Treat voice changes or chronic hoarseness, often requiring a prior ENT evaluation to ensure structural safety.

Individualized Care Plans: Design evidence-based treatment plans that prioritize "patient-centered care”, framing clinical goals around what matters most to the patient's daily life.

Cognitive Support: Address cognitive-communication issues, particularly in cases of dementia or neurological events, to improve patient safety (e.g., understanding safety instructions to reduce fall risk).

  • Interdisciplinary Teamwork: Collaborate closely with Occupational Therapists (OTs), Physical Therapists (PTs), and nursing staff to provide holistic care, particularly for fall prevention and safety.

Education and Mentorship: Educate patients and caregivers on strategies for safe swallowing and effective communication. SLPs at DVT also engage in teaching seminars for SLPAs regarding new licensure changes in North Carolina.

Documentation: Maintain accurate clinical records, including SOAP notes with both quantitative and qualitative data, typically using practice management software like CentralReach.

Advocacy: Act as a "cultural narrative" advocate, ensuring care is culturally competent and respects the patient's identity and personal story.
